Why I Still Care About Offline Games
Most mobile games assume you're always online. They stream assets, verify logins, and grind to a halt the moment your connection drops. For anyone who commutes, travels, or just has bad reception, that's a real problem.
Offline games solve it by keeping everything on your device. No server, no wait, no surprise interruption when the elevator eats your signal. That reliability is worth a lot more than most flashy multiplayer features.
There's also a quieter benefit. Offline games tend not to be built around constant engagement hooks. No live events pressuring you to log in, no timers designed to pull you back. You play when you want, and you stop when you're done.
I've started prioritizing offline titles for exactly this reason. They feel like games you own rather than services you rent. That distinction matters more to me every year.
